Aston Villa 1-4 Chelsea: Kerr brace sends Blues top of Women's Super League
Sam Kerr's second-half header helped Chelsea Women past a stubborn Aston Villa outfit in the Vitality Women's Super League on Sunday.
The Australian striker's goal, her second of the game, came in the 68th minute and proved to be the winner.
Chelsea had taken the lead in the first half through Jessie Fleming, but Villa equalised just before the break through Rachel Daly. Kerr put Chelsea back in front in the 55th minute, but Villa again drew level through Kenza Dali.
However, Kerr's late header proved to be the decisive moment, and Chelsea held on to secure all three points. The win sends Chelsea to the top of the Women's Super League table, two points ahead of Arsenal.
Villa, meanwhile, remain in ninth place, four points above the relegation zone.
Chelsea will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Manchester United in the Women's Champions League. Villa's next game is on Saturday when they travel to Brighton.
