Patrick Bailey's Grand Slam Lifts Giants to Victory

Bailey's Heroics Secure Comeback Win

Giants Catcher Delivers in Clutch Moment

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Patrick Bailey, the 24-year-old catcher for the San Francisco Giants, emerged as a hero on Friday night after hitting a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning of their game against the visiting San Diego Padres.

Entering the bottom of the eighth inning, the Giants trailed the Padres 3-2. With two runners on base and one out, Bailey stepped up to the plate facing Padres reliever Craig Stammen. On a 1-2 count, Bailey connected with a fastball and sent it soaring over the right-field wall, clearing the bases and giving the Giants a 6-3 lead.

Bailey's grand slam was his first career walk-off hit and the Giants' first grand slam of the season. It capped off a dramatic comeback for the Giants, who had been down by three runs earlier in the game. The victory moves the Giants to 13-17 on the season, while the Padres drop to 15-15.

Bailey, who was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 2020 MLB Draft, is quickly establishing himself as a valuable member of the team. In just 20 games this season, he is batting .267 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. His contributions behind the plate have also been impressive, as he has thrown out three runners attempting to steal.
